ACER approves long-term capacity calculation methodology of the Nordic region

Tuesday, November 5, 2019

ACER published its Decision approving the Nordic capacity calculation region’s (CCR) proposal for the long-term capacity calculation methodology between Denmark, Finland and Sweden, on the basis of the EU Regulation on Forward Capacity Allocation (FCA Guideline).

The capacity calculation methodology for the long-term timeframe sets out rules for the efficient calculation of the long-term allocation or forecast of available transmission rights on bidding zone borders. As required by the FCA Guideline, the Nordic TSOs have proposed the common coordinated capacity calculation methodology for the long-term timeframe within the Nordic capacity calculation region. The proposal has been submitted to the national regulatory authorities in each of the Nordic countries on January 16, 2019.

ACER’s approval comes after close cooperation with all Nordic regulatory authorities and TSOs, consultation on the amendments to the proposed CCM during a number of teleconferences and meetings throughout 2019.
