INEA awards grants to 32 energy projects under the 2016-2017 Competitive Low-Carbon Energy call
The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) signed the grants for 32 energy projects, which will be funded in twelve topics under the 2016-2017 Competitive Low-Carbon Energy call.
Thirteen project proposals, which would aim at “establishing new knowledge in the area of renewable energy, wind energy and sustainable fuels, developing next-generation technologies for renewable electricity, heating and cooling and focusing on social aspects of the energy transition” will be awarded a total of €134,4 million.
The rest of the funding – €86,4 million – will be allocated to 19 projects, which would demonstrate clean energy technologies and propose near-to-market solutions for renewables.
Additionally, INEA chose three projects from its reserve list to be awarded a grant. Two smart grid projects will receive €8,9 million and one carbon capture and storage project will get €8,4 million.
All of the projects will be implemented by a consortium of European partners, whose progress will be monitored by INEA throughout the lifecycle of each project. The projects will each begin by 01 June 2018 at the latest.
