Their common letter urges the negotiating parties to come to a comprehensive deal on energy trading and climate policy for the benefit of all Member States.
On 16 November, eight European industry associations sent a common letter to Michel Barnier, European Chief Negotiator, and Dominic Raab, Secretary of State, Department for Exiting the EU, urging them to include a comprehensive chapter on energy and climate issues in any future Free Trade Agreement between the United Kingdom and EU.
The eight signatories are Energy UK, EFET, ENTSO-E, ENTSO-G, Eurelectric, Eurogas, Scottish Renewables, SolarPower Europe, and Wind Europe. Their letter was sent following a joint announcement of a Political Declaration last week, which stated that the EU and the UK were close to reaching a compromise deal on the future separation agreement. On 21 November, Prime Minister Theresa May met with EU officials as the two parties scramble to finalise an Agreement in time for the Special meeting of the European Council (EU-27) on 25 November.
